Maria Aloykhina is a political activist, artist and founding member of Pussy Riot Collective. Following a Pussy Riot performance in a Moscow Cathedral, she was convicted of 'hooliganism motivated by religious hatred' and sentenced to two years' imprisonment. Recognised as a political prisoner by numerous human rights groups, she has continued her work as an activist and artist. She is a founder of the independent Russian news website MediaZona and an actor with the Belarus Free Theatre.
